Shower Baths Combine Two Worlds by Andrew Tub

If you’re in a family of more than one, then the chances are that some members of your family will prefer to take a bath, while others will prefer a shower. The luxury of whiling away time whilst lying in soothing hot water is more than just a way to get clean for many people. The speed and efficiency of a shower is the preferred method for many others.

It is not all families that can entertain the idea of having more than one bathroom, and most of us cannot have a shower room in addition to the regular family bathroom.

What about a shower bath?

Shower baths combine both the functions of a bath and a shower in a stylish manner and save space.

The basic design of a shower bath is to have a shower screen along one side of the bath so that the splashing of the shower does not get the floor next to the bath wet. In a shower bath the shower screen is integral to the design of the bath, and so are the taps †including a shower hose in the tap unit. The side of the bath opposite the shower screen is assumed to be alongside a tiled wall, as is the head of the bath. The screen can swing out of the way of anyone who simply wants to take a bath, and can swing back into position above the bath panel when someone wants to take a shower.

Combination shower baths provide the best of both worlds if you don’t want to give up your bath, but want the added convenience of a shower. Shower baths have become popular in design as they allow both a shower area and a bath area in the same footprint of a standard bath. To improve the design element of your shower baths even more, installing a modern frameless bath screen in chrome or classic white gives an airy feeling and modern charm to your bathroom.

Moving on from a typical shower curtain, shower screens are installed over the bath and are fixed to the wall at where your shower head is located, protecting your bathroom furniture and floor from water damage.

The benefits of an integrated shower panel as opposed to a shower curtain is that it is more efficient at preventing splashing, it is neater as it is designed to go with the bath, and, being easier to clean, it is less prone to build up of mould than a shower curtain.

Shower baths can have the shower hose attached to the bath taps, or they can be fixed to the wall, making use of a pump, giving a more efficient and more powerful shower. In that case the bath taps do not have to be near the shower unit, and can be positioned anywhere on the bath at the convenience or desire of the owner.

Opting for a shower bath can be the best solution for the twenty-first century family with multiple requirements.
