Should you ragdoll or brace when you’re falling?

I’ve heard in multiple stories where drunk people have fallen off buildings and survived because they didn’t brace. I’m thinking that because they weren’t tense, they absorbed the impact and didn’t break any bones. These probably weren’t any buildings taller than five stories, but people can die from just falling off a ladder. So should you ragdoll or brace?
